This piece is a powerful showcase of Alison's intensive, handmade sculptural technique. Rather than molding, the artist constructs the basket's web-like structure by patiently applying and manipulating Argile clay. The raw texture is achieved by blending the natural clay with other organic fibers, giving the final piece its distinctive, slightly rough, and beautifully uneven finish. The resulting open weave is both fragile in appearance and powerfully sculptural, affirming the slow, deliberate craft embedded in every curve and opening.
